Claim

According to an online blog www.ajebobo.com, a news was published on August 12, 2020, claim that the covid 19 vaccine by Russia will not be produced in mass until January 2021.‘‘Russia’s COVID-19 vaccine will not be available for public use until 1 January 2021, the website of the State Register of Pharmaceuticals reported on Tuesday”- Ajebobo’s blog claims. The blog further claimed that the State Register of Pharmaceuticals reported the date of introduction to the civilian circulation – 01.01.2021.

Roundcheck Findings

On Tuesday, August 11, 2020, Russian president, Vladimir Putin announced the registration of what he claims is the first vaccine for covid 19. ‘‘As far as I know, a vaccine against a new coronavirus infection has been registered this morning, for the first time in the world,” he said at a meeting with members of the government, as reported by CNN, TVC news, and other international news platforms.

The Health Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday, 11th of August, 2020  that the vaccine is expected to provide immunity from the coronavirus for up to two years, citing its experience with vaccines made with similar technology.

It is also a fact that Vladimir Putin, the country’s president, announced one of his daughters has already been inoculated as reported by Euronews

Speaking at a government meeting on Tuesday, Putin said that the vaccine has proven efficient during tests, offering a lasting immunity from the coronavirus.

According to BBC News, on August 12, 2020, the Russian minister of Health said a vaccine had been given regulatory approval after less than two months of testing on humans. He added that the vaccine would be available soon. Russian officials have said they plan to start mass vaccination in October. See report here

According to an ABC news report on August 11, 2020, ABC News reported that ‘‘While Russian officials have said large-scale production of the vaccine wasn’t scheduled until September, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said vaccination of doctors could start as early as this month. Officials say they will be closely monitored after the injections. Mass vaccination may begin as early as October.”

Our research reveals that no verified source disclosed that the Russian covid 19 vaccine will be available by January 2021.

Also, such information can not be found on the World Health Organization website or any of their social media platform, and no statement by the Russian government claiming that the vaccine will be available by January 2021.

“We expect tens of thousands of volunteers to be vaccinated within the next months,” Kirill Dmitriev, chief executive of the Russian Direct Investment Fund that bankrolled the vaccine, told reporters. (source ABC news) Kiril did not state emphatically when the vaccine will be available.

Conclusion

The news published on the blog claiming that the Russian covid 19 vaccine will be available in January 2021 is false.
