ROUNDCHECK, Others To Attend Media and Development Forum In France

The Media and Development Forum, organized by Canal France International (CFI) in partnership with AfricTivistes, Africa Check, and Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ), is set to hold in Paris, France from July 11 to 13, 2023.

The forum aims to facilitate discussions, knowledge sharing, and innovation around critical issues in the media landscape, including artificial intelligence, combating disinformation, climate change, and supporting media outlets in exile.

The event will bring together 300 journalists and information activists from 45 countries, creating a unique opportunity for professionals to exchange ideas, share practices, and discuss contemporary challenges faced in the media industry.

With its focus on innovation and development, the forum seeks to foster collaboration and provide solutions to the complex issues encountered by media organizations today.

ROUNDCHECK, one of Nigeria’s foremost youth-driven Fact-checking platform based in Nigeria will be present at the forum. ROUNDCHECK will be represented by the Executive Director, Caleb Ijioma, where he will join other organization dedicated to combating disinformation. The ED will also share his contributions at the forum which will be tailored towards bringing valuable expertise and insights to the event.

The presence of ROUNDCHECK emphasizes the forum’s commitment to addressing the challenges of disinformation and promoting accurate reporting, leveraging the youths.

The Media and Development Forum holds multiple objectives, including promoting innovation and knowledge exchange among journalists and media outlets from different countries. By sharing experiences, solutions, and innovations, participants aim to foster growth and development within the media industry.

The forum also seeks to address contemporary challenges such as the use of artificial intelligence, combating disinformation, climate change, and supporting media outlets in exile. Through discussions and workshops, participants will explore strategies to ensure a better-informed society.

In addition, the Media and Development Forum aims to strengthen media development assistance. By focusing on key themes related to media development, the forum aims to enhance support mechanisms and frameworks that contribute to the growth and sustainability of the media industry worldwide.
