A website ‘recruitmentbeam.com’ posted a claim that the Nigerian Police force has commenced recruitment for the 2022 Police Constable position. The post was made on August 11th, 2022.

The Police constable is an establishment in the police force that gives greater assurances to the communities. The Police Constables are generally established to work closely with communities, oftentimes, they go on patrol by foot, cars, and bicycles. They also engage community groups and Individuals in gaining knowledge about different neighborhoods to identify individuals and locations — at risk of being involved in crime.
Police Constable Recruitment in Nigeria
In a report by the Premium Times newspaper on the 30th of November 2021, the recruitment of Police Constables was announced in a statement signed by the then Force’s Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba. The report stated that the application had commenced on the 29th of November 2021 and closed on the 10th of January 2021. This was the last time the Police Constables recruitment took place in Nigeria.

Upon clicking the website, a breakdown of directions on how to apply for the recruitment was given to the applicant with a new web link which is supposed to take the applicant to the recruitment portal.
But a click on the new web link takes the applicant to the homepage of recruitmentbeam.com rather than the recruitment portal— the link does not redirect to any other page.
To get more clarification, ROUNDCHECK made use of Scamadviser for further information on the website. Using Scamadviser, the tool presented the result of the website to be “likely to be legit. Trust rating high”
…Police Debunks Recruitment Claim
We visited the official website of the Nigerian Police Force to confirm the report. A press release was issued on the 22nd of August 2022 to debunk the news stating that the force has not commenced 2022 Police Constable recruitment. It further urged Nigerians to disregard the recruitment information.
Also, the verified Facebook page of the Nigerian Police carried the same information, debunking the recruitment exercise as false. As of the time of this report, the Nigerian Police is not recruiting Constables.
Verdict
The report claiming that the Nigerian Police Force has begun recruitment for the 2022 Police Constables position is INCORRECT.
