ROUNDCHECK, a youth-led fact-checking organisation, has onboarded 22 new volunteers into the fourth cohort of its growing volunteer network project. The virtual onboarding took place on 5th April, 2025.
The Volunteer Network project is a strategic initiative designed to build a community of changemakers dedicated to countering misinformation and disinformation.
The onboarding session featured details on the process of combating misinformation/disinformation, and orientation for the new volunteers about the organisation’s mission, vision, and ongoing projects.
One of the new volunteers, Obiowu Oghenebrorhie, a communication graduate and digital media enthusiast, shared his excitement: “Joining Roundcheck means a lot to me. It’s an opportunity to grow, make an impact, and be part of a movement that stands for truth in a time when misinformation spreads like wildfire.”
Speaking on the development, Faith Alofe, Head of the Volunteer Network at Roundcheck, expressed confidence in the new volunteers and highlighted the importance of their roles in today’s digital era.

“We are excited to welcome this new set of passionate individuals into our growing network. Each cohort brings in fresh ideas and renewed energy. This fourth cohort stands out for their diverse backgrounds and shared commitment to truth, accountability, and inclusion. As misinformation becomes more sophisticated, it’s critical to have a community of dedicated fact-checkers working to protect the integrity of information in our society,” she said.
Also, Caleb Ijioma, Executive Director at RoundCheck, said, “I am proud of the growth of this network. It takes strong determination to bring in people from diverse backgrounds who share the same goal, which is making our society an informed society.”
Since its inception, Roundcheck has empowered over 100 volunteers across its previous three cohorts, many of whom have become active contributors to national and regional media and civic advocacy efforts.
The newly onboarded volunteers will receive mentorship and hands-on training to enhance their skills in research, storytelling, fact-checking methodology, and the use of digital tools.
