Roundcheck Opens Applications For 4th Cohort Of Volunteer Network

Since March 2022, the Roundcheck Volunteer Network has emerged as a significant force in fighting against false information in Africa. The network was born out of the urgent need to combat the growing spread of misinformation across digital platforms, particularly in a region where youths comprise most internet users.

In line with this vision, Roundcheck is now calling for applications for the 4th cohort of its Volunteer Network, an opportunity to join a transformative movement against the epidemic of misinformation and disinformation.

About the Roundcheck Volunteer Network

The Roundcheck Volunteer Network was founded with a single mission: “To empower young people with the knowledge, tools, and skills required to verify information and debunk misinformation”. Since 2022, RoundCheck has been training and mentoring volunteers twice a year in March and August.

Each cohort participates in an intensive three-month programme, during which volunteers receive:

At the end of each cohort, participants receive a certificate of completion, recognising their efforts in curbing the spread of misinformation in Africa.

Impact So Far

The RoundCheck Volunteer Network has made remarkable strides in addressing the misinformation crisis:

  • 100+ volunteers have been trained and mentored.
  • 25+ fact-checking projects have been completed, exposing false narratives and promoting accurate information.
  • 10+ specialised training sessions have been conducted, equipping participants with cutting-edge tools and strategies.

These achievements underscore the network’s unwavering commitment to fostering a generation of fact-checkers equipped to tackle the challenges of today’s information ecosystem.

Applications are now open for the 4th cohort, which will include 20 carefully selected applicants. If you are a young individual passionate about combating false information and eager to learn and develop fact-checking skills, this is your chance to make a difference.
