Did ZLP Candidate, Alfred Ajayi withdraw from the Governorship race in Ondo State?

CLAIM

In the early hour of Saturday, 10th of October, 2020, the election day for Ondo State, a news was buzzing on social media, WhatsApp specifically that Zenith Labour Party gubernatorial candidate Mr. Alfred Ajayi has withdrawn from the scheduled 10th October 2020 gubernatorial race. While the news was spreading like wildfire putting supporters of Ajayi on unrest over the misinformation. Mr. Ajayi is the incumbent deputy Governor of Ondo state.

ROUNDCHECK FINDINGS

RoundCheck correspondent, Jeremiah Oluwaferanmi, spoke with the special adviser on Media to Mr. Ajayi, Comrade Allen Sowore through a WhatsApp phone call disregard the claim that his boss is fully active in the race and nothing can’t stop him.

Mr. Sowore said “The forged letter posted by a pseudo account which Leke Akeredolu, Special Media aide to the governor is behind.”

Furthermore, the chief press secretary to the Deputy governor Mr. Babatope Okeowo said his boss has not withdraw from the race. 

Mr. Okeowo who address the public via Agboola’s Twitter handle this morning also disregard the widely circulated rumour.

CONCLUSION

 

Mr. Ajayi is very much active in the ongoing Ondo gubernatorial race. The claim is false and should be discarded.
